Management

The main aim of this WP is to manage and coordinate all the different activities within the METRIC project. To secure that the project consortium can deliver the results while at the same time fulfil contractual obligations.

More specifically, In WP1 the objectives are :

  1. to establish effective project management procedures detailed in a project management guide
  2. to monitor the overall performance of the project and to ensure that the consortium will reach its objectives
  3. to coordinate overall project administrative and networking issues
  4. to report progress to the European Commission
  5. to assess conformity of the results with the initial project scope and goals
  6. to promote project visibility and assess quality of results
  7. to efficiently resolve any project internal conflicts
  8. to ensure data protection and privacy
  9. to administer project resources and monitor project spending, as well as being prepared and able to cope with unexpected occurrences

Mapping Regional Transport Innovation Frameworks

This WP responds to the need of gaining a fundamental understanding of the regional transport research and innovation activities and its unique characteristics, assets and shortcomings. Regional innovation activities are considered as one of the drivers for growth and improvement of the transport sector in Europe. Therefore, the main objective of this WP is to understand the regional transport research and innovation activities.

More specifically, in WP2 the objectives are:

  1. to research, identify, gather and process relevant information and key factors about regional RTD activities in transport sector;
  2. to gain an understanding on the status of regional transport research and innovation;
  3. to identify all the stakeholders involved in the transport innovation and their collaboration patterns
  4. to identify, categorize and record all relevant innovation policies, strategies, objectives, visions, practices and users into a common reference platform repository building on databases of relevant projects
  5. to identify the national and regional programmes and initiatives in order to widespread the potential opportunities for funded innovation activities;
  6. to identify funding processes and procedures of innovation activities in European regions and countries.

Measuring and Explaining the Performance of Regional Innovation Frameworks

The main aim of this WP is to explore the regional transport research and innovation landscape in a fashion that helps point the way to where comparative and competitive advantages lie.

The specific objectives are:

  1. to develop indicators that enable to measure, compare and explain the transport research and innovation performance of regions;
  2. to measure and explain the regional transport innovation potential;
  3. to explore the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to realise transport innovations at regional level.

Regional Strategy Plans and Recommendations

The main aim of this WP is to provide concrete recommendations for strengthening the role of transport research and innovation at regional level in form of road maps. The ultimate goal of this WP is to assist regions in creating a strategy that builds upon existing and potential areas of comparative advantage, avoiding fragmentation and insularity and linking and leveraging the assets in new and different ways. The specific objectives are summarized below:

  1. To interpret the results produced in the previous WPs in policy and strategy development context
  2. To develop recommendation on innovative strategies for the regions
  3. To develop of innovation roadmaps based on the best practices

Dissemination and Exploitation

Dissemination of key project findings is considered as one of the crucial step in European research projects. METRIC project partners will have to ensure that research findings are disseminated to research participants, as well as other individuals and institutions in European research community and wider. Therefore, they have to ensure a continuous dissemination of the project results via various channels of communications. Focus of WP6 is to improve the accessibility of project findings to those who can contribute to development, evaluation, uptake and exploitation of the project outcomes. Main objectives of this WP are summarized below:

  1. To create awareness about the project‘s results and encourage involvement of stakeholders;
  2. To create and maintain a vivid interest ensuring participation and contribution of key players;
  3. To create a network of stakeholders consisting of key actors of the innovation chain;
  4. To successfully organize the final event and ensure the project results are properly presented;
  5. To set a plan for the dissemination and exploitation activities;
  6. To formulate a permanent link with all relevant EU institutions;
  7. To create a virtual place where all relevant players and stakeholders could collaborate and find necessary information;
  8. To formulate a virtual interactive web space where useful information on regional research and innovations activities in transport sector in Europe can be found and elaborated.
